ANN LARSSON-DAHLIN, SWEDEN

Creative motto: For me, painting is an experiment where my materials, my subject and myself all work together. But the subject is not always the most important thing! is What I value most is depicting various contrasts and light conditions, in combination with capturing a feeling.

I also strive to develop my ability to paint boldly and fluently, so that the painting doesn’t become cluttered by too much clarity and too many details. The transparency of the watercolour technique provides a bright lustre in a painting, and an airiness that I like.

I paint both indoors in my studio, and outdoors in the surrounding countryside. In the studio I often work from different memories, ideas or with various kinds of still-life. Sometimes I am inspired by the light that creates fascinating contrasts in our home. Outdoors, I might try to capture the sun's reflections on the surface of the water, and memories from nature in my fishing-spots in the Norwegian fjords.

Short biography: Master of Education in Visual Art and Design, Univ. of Arts Stockholm. Senior Lecturer/Associated Professor in Art at Mid Sweden University until July 2016. Have participated in several (around 30) International watercolor exhibitions all over the world.
